Declaration on EU Directive 2015/83/EG on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS).
On March 31st, 2015, with the entry into force of the “Law on the placing on the market, return and environmentally compatible disposal of electrical and electronic equipment”, the requirements of the EC Directives (RoHS) according to EU 2015/83/EC were implemented in German law.
The main concern of the law is the reduction of harmful substances in electronics and the avoidance and reduction of electronic scrap through reuse. The limit values for pollutants have been in effect since July 1st, 2006 and include lead, mercury, cadmium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) and chromium VI compounds. The extended ROHS directive has been in force since July 22nd, 2019, with new material use bans.
